Information We Collect
We collect only what Stash needs to work. When you sign in, we keep your email address. If you sign in with Google, we also keep the name and profile picture that Google shares with us. Each time you sign in, we record the IP address and browser that started the session.
We keep the bookmarks you save: each link, along with its title, description, image and site name. We also keep the lists you make, the due dates and reminders you set, your time zone, and a history of the actions you take on each bookmark, such as saving, archiving or trashing it.
If you connect the browser extension, we issue it a token, and we note when it was last used. When you save the page you're on, the extension sends us its address and the title, description, image and site name the page publishes about itself. You can disconnect the extension in Settings at any time.
How We Use Information
We use your information to run Stash, to send you reminders, and to make Stash better. We do not sell it.
A few services handle data on our behalf. Railway hosts the app and its database. Resend delivers sign-in emails. Google handles sign-in if you choose it. Sentry receives reports when something breaks. PostHog tells us how the app and this website are used. Vercel hosts this website and measures its traffic with Vercel Web Analytics.
To build a preview for a link you save, we fetch the page ourselves. When that doesn't work, we send the link's address to LinkPreview or Microlink. For YouTube links, we ask YouTube for the video's details, and we ask Google for each site's icon.
Cookies
The app uses a cookie to keep you signed in. PostHog also stores an identifier in a cookie, and in your browser's local storage, so that it can count your visits as one person's. This website sets no cookies: its analytics keep nothing on your device. You can block or clear cookies in your browser's settings, but you'll need the sign-in cookie to use the app.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as you have an account, or as long as the law requires. Bookmarks you put in the Trash are deleted permanently after thirty days, or as soon as you empty the Trash. The history of what you did with them stays in your account.
